Loudspeakers produce a sound whenever there is a change in the voltage across them. The frequency of the changing voltage governs the frequency (and the pitch) of the sound.
When you add a loudspeaker to a scene, the scene goes into slow motion so that enough samples of the model's properties can be taken to simulate and measure the model accurately.
If a voltage greater than the Clipping voltage is applied to the loudspeaker, the sound produced is distorted.
